Africa Superstar Tiwa Savage cruises Volkswagen convertible

Tiwa
Popular female singer, Tiwatope Savage Balogun, known and addressed by many as Tiwa Savage is one of the reigning musicians in Nigeria, Africa’s biggest entertainment industry.
One of her popular singles, Eminado, which featured her record label boss, Don Jazzy, was widely accepted, which further endeared her to many.
The 34-year-old multiple awards winner, who recently got married to her manager, Teebillz, acquired a Volkswagen EOS convertible car in 2011. Even though it is a 2011 model, it remains a car you want to drive. The car costs about N6m.
The 2011 Volkswagen EOS is designed for those who want a relaxed touring in a fine convertible. Those looking for a four-passenger convertible car with driving excitement, pleasant ride quality, good dependability, well equipped, nice interior and decent handling should also consider the easygoing demeanour of the EOS.
The EOS boasts of performance and a retractable hardtop, which is a setting that opens the front section only like a sunroof and allows a driver who may want to let some light in but not want the top down.
Performance
The Eos comes in two trims; Komfort and Lux models, but those who want the best handling possible should look for a model equipped with sport suspension. All 2011 Volkswagen EOS models are powered by 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that feels responsive and adequate to move the EOS effectively. The front-wheel-drive comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission or optional dual-clutch automatic transmission, which uses two separate clutches for odd and even gear sets. Lux models are available with the dual-clutch automated manual only.
It has strong acceleration and good responsiveness, thanks to its flexible engine. While it might look like a relaxed cruiser-convertible, it handles better than the image suggests.
It has fuel tank capacity of approximately 14.5 gallons. In Edmunds test, the EOS moves from 0-60-miles per hour in 7.8 seconds, with fuel economy ratings of 21 miles per gallon/city, 31mpg/highway and 25mpg combined for the manual and 22mpg/city, 29mpg/highway and 25mpg combined for the automatic transmission.
Features
The EOS, with two-door hardtop and seating for four, has a high quality interior and a generous list of standard features, with finishes that are tough to beat, according to Edmunds.
The Komfort model comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels (18-inch optional) and a hill-holder feature for the manual-transmission model, which prevents a car from rolling backward on a hill when the brake pedal is released. Others are leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, power driver seat, heated front seats, cruise control, an eight-speaker touch-screen stereo system with six-CD changer, satellite radio and Media Device Interface with an iPod cable.
The Lux model adds daytime running lights, power-folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, leather upholstery and an easy-entry function for rear passengers. Optional are two styles of 18-inch wheels, one of which has sport suspension, rear parking sensors, hard-drive-based navigation system, USB port, digital music storage and a Dynaudio premium surround sound system, etc.
Safety
Standard on the EOS are 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, electronic stability control and airbags, including driver and passengers airbag, side head airbag and side airbag. Reviewers say its steering capabilities are just fine with competent brakes, stable driving on the highway even with the top down, exhibiting little of the body shake common to convertibles at highway speed.
In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash testing, the 2011 VW Eos earned the top rating of “Good” for both frontal-offset and side-impact tests.
Design
The chief attraction of the EOS is its five-piece retractable hardtop, which flips and folds under the metal trunk lid in 25 seconds, though it requires 16 inches of clearance behind the car to operate properly. Fortunately, it has rear sensors to warn the driver if there is no enough room. Front passengers will most likely find the EOS spacious enough, but adults in the backseat might feel cramped, reviewers say.
Cargo
If you want a vacation-friendly car, the 2011 Volkswagen EOS won’t meet your needs because the trunk is tiny.
The good: Reviewers commend the power-retractable hardtop with integrated glass sunroof, turbocharged engine, good fuel economy, compliant suspension even on rough pavement and easy handling.
The bad: Reviewers say it is built for comfort, not speed. They also say it has limited backseat room, limited cargo capacity, except top is up, uncomfortable rear row and that brakes fade quickly with repeated hard braking, which are major setbacks.
